(San Diego, CA) As a strong supporter of the local Information Security community, SOLUTE Consulting recently hosted a San Diego Information Systems Security Association (SDISSA) training event on Certification and Accreditation (C&A) of Department of Defense (DoD) systems. At the gathering held Mar. 30, 2011 at SOLUTE's Conference Center, Maryann Knapton (CISSP), a Senior Network Security Engineer at SOLUTE and a fully qualified Navy Validator, gave an outstanding presentation on the duties and responsibilities of a Navy Validator. Ms. Knapton's in-depth discussion provided the audience with additional insight on the certification process and highlighted some tools to better complete C&A packages.

Also at this SOLUTE-hosted event, Chuck Romano, Chapter President for SDISSA, gave an excellent presentation on working with the Navy Certification Authority. He discussed "lessons learned" for creating packages and provided tips on getting quick approval of C&A packages.
