SOLUTE IA Team Provides In-depth Presentation on Security Tools
Friday, 25 March 2011

(San Diego, CA) SOLUTE's Information Assurance (IA) Team gave a presentation on security tools at the 8th Annual Security Summit hosted by The Security Network in San Diego, CA. Chris Simpson, SOLUTE's IA Task Lead, and his IA/Cyber Security Team have extensive experience testing and using a variety of tools to secure and defend government networks. Mr. Simpson made the presentation at the Summit and covered a wide variety of security tools.

The large number of security tools on the market make it difficult for managers, program managers, small business owners, and Information Security professionals to choose the correct tools to protect their information systems and to meet all regulatory requirements. The SOLUTE team provided a detailed presentation on "What Works Best with Security Tools" at the Summit, which was attended by IA and Cyber Security leaders and professionals. The presentation included information on methods to select the best tools to meet business requirements, a comparison of open source versus commercial tools, where to find information on tools, and a rapid review of some cutting-edge tools. Mr. Simpson discussed an array of topics, including intrusion detection, log collection, vulnerability assessment, and incident response. He also provided an overview on using the Common Criteria Portal to select the correct security tools.
