SOLUTE Invited to Submit Navy Wave Phase II STTR

(San Diego, CA) SOLUTE recently received affirmation that its work on critical software development for Google's Wave protocol standard was solid and met the needs of its customer when the company received an invitation to submit a Phase II proposal for the related Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant. In Phase I of this Navy Wave Rich Collaboration for Command and Control (C2) STTR for the Office of Naval Research (ONR), SOLUTE has been developing a Navy distributed Maritime C2 collaboration capabililty that applies Google's Wave protocol standard. Due to its successful research and design on Phase I, SOLUTE is now positioned to make further progress on its development in this area. Those positive results prompted ONR and the Navy's PMW150 program to invite SOLUTE to submit the Phase II proposal.

"This STTR has provided an excellent opportunity to exercise our in-depth knowledge and expertise in applying innovative software design to real-world Command and Control (C2) capability gaps," said Michael MacFadden, SOLUTE'S Director of Research and Development. "Building a new framework to allow geographically distributed personnel to collaborate in real-time as if they were in the same location has strong positive implications for C2 across the entire DoD," he continued, "and could provide a foundational technology that can be applied in corporate environments and for other government agencies."

The invitation to submit a Phase II proposal is evidence of the high level of work SOLUTE carried out, not only on this STTR, but on other research and development projects, including other STTRs and Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) grants.

SOLUTE recently submitted this Phase II proposal, documenting its Phase I research and development, as well as its plans for further development and the prototyping of its solution in Phase II. SOLUTE will thus be able to further apply its technology to the Navy's challenges and, in Phase II, will continue to refine and develop the Navy Wave solution.
