(San Diego, CA) SOLUTE continues to collaborate with Google, Inc. to ensure that their innovative Wave technology thrives in its new open source home at the Apache Software Foundation. SOLUTE's Director of Research and Development, Mr. Michael MacFadden, has taken a pivotal role in the Apache Wave Incubator project, serving as a founding member of the Wave project team. As a committer, Mr. MacFadden has access to enhance the Wave product through source code contributions; he also has leadership responsibilities in defining the project road map, developing infrastructure setup, and maturing the open source community.

After visiting Google with other SOLUTE employees for a Wave summit in November 2010, Mr. MacFadden took an active role in working on Wave source code, suggesting software changes, and participating in strategic discussions with other developers. "Michael was assertive and proactive in contributing SOLUTE's expertise to the Wave transition team," said SOLUTE's CEO John Lyons. "His role as founding committer will allow SOLUTE to strengthen its position in the software development community and will help us to take a leadership role in Google's transition of an important technology."

Google's Wave technology is an important part of a SOLUTE Phase I Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant sponsored by the Office of Naval Research (ONR). For this STTR, SOLUTE is architecting a distributed Maritime Command and Control (C2) collaboration framework designed to enhance current and future Navy C2 tools. SOLUTE's knowledge and innovation of C2 systems, augmented by its integral role in the Wave community, will allow SOLUTE to advance the Wave platform and ensure that Wave evolves to meet the needs of today's Navy. SOLUTE's collaboration with Google and its contributions to the Apache Software Foundation demonstrate SOLUTE's strong core competency in Software Engineering and its emergence as a recognized leader in innovative C2 Architecture.
